Volunteer Physicians needed for More than 1 year
Opportunity Description: Dear HealthCare Volunteer I'm writing you to consider joining as a volunteer with The WellMOM Foundation, a start-up,501 (c)(3), non-profit christian ministry that provides free healthcare and spiritual resources to single mothers and their children who do not qualify for state assistance and cannot afford needed healthcare services. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and empower single mothers with the resources to foster a safe, healthy, and enriched lifestyle for their families through access to quality, comprehensive, primary health care, health education, spiritual and mental health counseling. As a healthcare practitioner, you know there's no greater influence in quality of life than one's health. Single, mothers provide all they can to their families, but it is their health and the health of their children, which suffers the most when times get tough. At WellMOM, our volunteer practitioners focus on improving the health and wellness of these women and their children. With your help, we can continue to provide the most basic need of quality healthcare - at no cost - to our WellCare families. To qualify, mothers must be single and working, but not reliant on state assistance and unable to afford health insurance or lack the funds to pay for needed health care. Our practitioner partners are licensed healthcare providers representing all aspects of medicine, from conventional to complementary and alternative. It's all part of our comprehensive approach to care, so we can meet the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the families we serve. Areas of care Needed: Internal Medicine Family Practice Opthamology Dermatology Gynecology Massage Therapy Counseling Naturopathic Medicine Chiropractic Nutrition Counseling and Weight Loss Osteopathic Medicine Pediatrics Radiology Nursing If you're interested in joining our network of practitioner partners, what we're asking of you is simple. Donate a minimum of two hours a month of your services free of charge. I personally encourage you to become a volunteer. There are currently 10 million single mothers in the United States. Single Moms with dependent children have a higher rate of poverty than any other demographic group in America. Nearly two out of every three children in a mother-only family is poor, compared to one in ten children in two-parent families. The current economic crisis has forced tens of thousands to lose their employer sponsored health insurance as they themselves lose their jobs. In addition, there has been discussion on medicaid reform, which could render once eligible people ineligible to receive services. Single women with children, the majority already vulnerable, are becoming affected at higher rates by this decline, more than any other group, according to a survey of 22,000 people conducted last month by the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) and their need for health care services has greatly increased accordingly. The opportunity to unite health care volunteers nationally to address this urgent need was the catalyst for the formation of the WellMOM Foundation. We invite you to visit our new website, however currently under construction:www.wellmomfoundation.org If you would like to join our team of practitioners or would like more information on volunteering, please contact, Amy Ejimadu at:aejimadu@wellmomfoundation.org to sign up or you can submit any questions you might have to WellMOM at info@wellmomfoundation.org. Feel free to also give us a call at 585-295-0771 ext. 1250897 with questions or comments. Our mission's success truly is dependent on community support. The more volunteers we have, the more help we can give, and the more lives we impact for the better. I hope you will consider us. Sincerely, Amy Ejimadu Secretary, Board of Directors The WellMOM Foundation aejimadu@wellmomfoundation.org
